Sir Google Flange was a wizard who lived during the 17th century.[2]

Biography[]

Lifetime[]

Google Flange lived in the British Isles during the early 17th century,[2] and attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in his youth.[3] At some point in his lifetime, he was knighted, thus earning the title "Sir."[2] Ultimately, he was remembered by among other his old school, which commemorated him by mounting a portrait in his likeness on the wall among those of other distinguished alumni in the Grand Staircase.[3]

Post-mortem[]

He died in or before 1991.[1] A portrait of him, dated 1600 and featuring the word "abracadabra" written in the shape of triangle, was hung at Hogwarts Castle sometime after his death.[2][4] In the 1990s, it was hanging in the Grand Staircase, near the Third-floor corridor.[4]

  1. 1.0 1.1 J. K. Rowling stated at the Edinburgh Book Festival on 15 August 2014 (source) that all portraits at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry are of deceased individuals. Thus, Flange must have died sometime in or before 1991, given his portrait's appearance in in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
