Goodwin Kneen lived in Yorkshire, England, in the twelfth century. He was married to Gunhilda, and had a cousin in Norway called Olaf. Kneen played the game Kwidditch, the forerunner to the modern game of Quidditch. In a letter to his cousin, he described the game, and the letter is now preserved in the Norwegian Ministry of Magic as an important artifact about the evolution of the game. The letter makes mention of Catchers (Chasers) and Blooders (Bludgers).

Following the match, Goodwin got drunk since Oona from the inn gave the team free mead. Gunhilda was not pleased, and temporarily jinxed his fingers off.
