A gold cauldron is a cauldron made from gold, a precious, soft metal. Many of these can be found around the Hogwarts Castle. Alastor Moody owned one.

On his first visit to Diagon Alley, Harry Potter wanted to purchase a gold cauldron, but Rubeus Hagrid disallowed it, since his supply list specified pewter.
