"God Rest Ye, Merry Hippogriffs" was a Christmas song presumably about Hippogriffs. In the Christmas holidays of 1995, Sirius Black was so happy to have everyone at 12 Grimmauld Place, headquarters for the Order of the Phoenix for dinner that he could be heard singing it at the top of his voice.

Behind the scenes

  • The song's title appears to derive from the Christmas carol "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen."
  • It is not clear whether the carol is an "official" wizarding one or just an improvisation of Sirius's.
