Ginny Weasley's wand is made of yew wood with an unknown length or core materials.[1] The wand was manufactured by Garrick Ollivander.
History
Like most wizards and witches in Great Britain, Ginny purchased it at the age of eleven before beginning her education at Hogwarts in 1992 from Ollivander's Wand shop. She has been able to perform powerful magic with her wand, such as casting an unmatchable Bat-Bogey Hex.
Ginny also wielded this wand in many battles of the Second Wizarding War such as: the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, the Battle of the Astronomy Tower, and the Battle of Hogwarts.
Appearance
It is a shiny black colour with a spiral one quarter the way up; this serves are its handle. At the end of the spiral, there is a section of crosshatching.
Behind the scenes
- J.K. Rowling revealed a picture via her official Twitter account on April 18, 2016 showing her idea of some of the main character's wand designs, where Ginny's wand wood was revealed for the first time to be made from yew. Interestingly enough, both Harry Potter's wife and mortal enemy share the same wand wood.
- Ginny's wand in the Harry Potter films, like many others, measures over the presumed canonical length, at 14.25 inches. This cannot be considered canon, because, as Pottermore indicates that Garrick Ollivander only sold wands over 14 inches when a "physical peculiarity" required it.
