Professor Garius Tomkink was a magical historian and the author of Hogwarts, A History.[1] His book is a compilation of the history of both Hogwarts School and Hogwarts Castle. Hermione Granger was an avid reader of his work. Professor Garius had, however, left out of his book the fact that there were house-elves working in the castle's kitchens, much to Hermione's distaste.
