The Pimple Jinx,[2] also known as the Furnunculus Curse[4] (Furnunculus),[1] was a Dark charm that caused a person to break out in boils/pimples when it came in contact with their skin.[1] It could induce acne.[5] The effects could be cleared by the Boil-Cure Potion.[6]
It was for a time a favourite of Harry Potter, who used it twice in his fourth year.[1][3] It had unpleasant side-effects if it happened to strike a person in conjunction with the Jelly-Legs Curse, causing the victim to sprout small tentacles all over their face.[3]
History[]
In Simon Talmadge's third year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the bully Mabel threatened to use this spell on him, but he was saved by Gwydion Idris.[7]
During the 1990–1991 school year at Hogwarts, Professor Olivia Green taught this spell to her seventh-year Defence Against the Dark Arts students.[5]
