French onion soup is a type of soup originating in France, typically based on meat stock and onions, and often served au gratin (i.e. with a browned crust of grated cheese and breadcrumbs).[2]
History[]
Kreacher served French onion soup to Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger on 1 September 1997.[1] Harry thought it was "as good as [he] had ever tasted."[1] While Kreacher's cooking had formerly been lacking, it improved significantly after he was given Regulus Black's locket, as did his relationship with Harry and his friends.[1]
