Fred and George Weasley (born April 1, 1978) are Ron's older twin brothers. Best known for being pranksters and apparent slackers, they became very successful after opening their joke shop, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. They attended school from 1989-1996. During their seventh year, they dropped out, having more than what they needed to start their joke shop.

During their first year at Hogwarts they took the Marauder's Map from Argus Filch's office. They learned to use the map, and later considered it the secret of their success. In 1993, during their fifth year they gave Harry Potter the map, saying that they no longer needed it and that they already knew the map by heart. Both were Beaters for the Gryffindor Quidditch team while in school.

Although they appeared to be slackers, they knew their magic, for they were quite capable of leaving behind a large bit of trouble for Dolores Umbridge, who was the reason they did not want to stay at school anymore. A small part of a swamp that appeared in the castle due to their meddling against Umbridge was preserved by Professor Flitwick in honor of the twins.

They have used their abilities to create objects imbued with the Shield Charm, selling them at their joke shop, Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Fred and George can usually be found in their flat above their shop in Diagon Alley.

Both twins suffer at the Death Eaters' hands in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. George loses an ear in the flight from Privet Drive, due to an off-target Sectumsempra spell fired by Severus Snape; Fred and George then joke that their mother will be able to tell them apart. Fred, however, is killed in the Second Battle of Hogwarts, sundering the twins' double ambition and charm forever.
