Recently, an article was deleted about a Spanish book called "La Guia Secreta de Harry Potter", or "The Secret Guide to Harry Potter". If you look on Google or Amazon.com, you can find dozens of such books, including the Lexicon book and one by Mugglenet. Would any of these merit an out-of-universe article, or perhaps a single, general article covering the subject? Even if not, there should be a policy in place about this in case more such articles pop up. - Nick O'Demus 19:28, October 8, 2009 (UTC)

I don't think these articles should be made. After all there should be hundreds of Harry Potter guidebooks. The only real-life books that should merit their own article are those who Rowling or WB have wrote/participated in (i.e. Harry, A History: The True Story of a Boy Wizard, His Fans, and Life Inside the Harry Potter Phenomenon). --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 20:31, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
I agree about not needing an article for each one, but perhaps a list article, like the List of Harry Potter fan websites. If the goal of this wiki is to be the most comprehensive Harry Potter site on the web, shouldn't this information be included in some form? - Nick O'Demus 20:38, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
While I'm not against the creation of such articles, I do think that notability should be a factor. As Seth says, there could be hundreds of said books in circulation. One or two of the important ones (such as the Lexicon and Mugglenet books) may be worthy of a separate article especially given the controversy surrounding the publication of the Lexicon book. - Cavalier OneGryffindorcrest(Wizarding Wireless Network) 21:12, October 8, 2009 (UTC)
I agree. I don't think we need individual articles for all those unofficial books. Perhaps one or two of the main ones will do. But we should have a policy. We don't want these articles turning up again and again. QuidditchLoverSnitch 2(My talk)(contribs) 04:11, October 9, 2009 (UTC)

I think that prominent unofficial books like The Lexicon warrant having their own articles. Perhaps our requirement for inclusion could be that the book was written by the webmaster(s) of a major Harry Potter website or by someone well-known outside of the HP fandom.
