I have a question I'm hoping someone can help me with. I am wondering about the first years' uniforms for Hogwarts. They purchase and wear their uniform before they know what house they're going to be in, so how is it that later we see them wearing uniforms clearly customized for each house or at least indicia, such as a colored hood that shows what house they are in? And also in the first film I noticed their uniforms were plain at the sorting, yet somehow later developed each house's corresponding colors? I'm hoping someone can help me with this minor technicality.

- Well, it is possible that they receive their colored ties and patches following their sorting, or as this is a school of magic, once they are sorted the appropriate colors simply appear. Also, this is not a general question forum, this forum is used for questions regarding the running of the wiki. Thank you, --JKoch(Owl Me!) 06:14, December 22, 2010 (UTC)
- Nephora Hungle: 12:43 PM November 7 2011.
- The students Do buy the uniform set (Sweaters, pants robes, scaves ties ect.)
- You notise that in the movies the tie is black, the rims of their robs are black and the patch is the school crest, when sorted, the robes, ties, patch change into their house my guess is the fabric has a spell that changes the fabric and patch to the house when sorted.
