Hello. I've been thinking (when aren't I) and I've drawn a conclusion (such a surprise). There are a bunch of "Unidentified ________ (Number)" titles around, and I figured it might be a good idea to rename them so that it's the actor's name with brackets saying "In-universe" (such as: Hunnie Bunn (In-universe)). We could then do a {{Youmay}} tag between the character and the actor. For example:

So... whaddaya think? --Remember (Least We Forget) 01:48, November 10, 2012 (UTC)

I'm actually not entirely sure what you mean. Could you provide a specific example? ProfessorTofty (talk) 02:35, November 10, 2012 (UTC)
So.. for Unidentified Male Death Eater at the Little Hangleton graveyard (I) he'd be renamed Barry Dowden (In-universe) with a {{Youmay}} tag going:

And then for Unidentified Male Death Eater (I) he'd be renamed "Emil Hostina (in-universe)" with a youmay going:

Or even we could have Emil Hostina I for the actor and Emil Hostina II for the DE, with a disambig or youmay as needed, if that were easier. Such as with Barry Dowden I for the actor and Barry Dowden II for the DE. --Remember (Least We Forget) 03:15, November 10, 2012 (UTC)

It just seems a bit unnecessary to me, since the pages are usually short and the actor is easily found in the Behind the scenes section anyway. ProfessorTofty (talk) 03:40, November 10, 2012 (UTC)
I understand what you meant, but the reason I wanted to do so was to distinguish between all the unidentified people. So that there wouldn't be five million "unidentified"s. --Remember (Least We Forget) 04:09, November 10, 2012 (UTC)
But having read over it a bit more, it just seems inaccurate to me. You'd be changing the page name to "Emil Hostina (in-universe)," but that implies that the character is named Emil Hostina, which they probably aren't. We don't know the characters name, which is why they're "unidentified." ProfessorTofty (talk) 05:03, November 10, 2012 (UTC)
That's true. Oh well; that's just one idea. I just didn't want to see all these Unidentifieds, because there must be at least four hundred. --Remember (Least We Forget) 17:34, November 10, 2012 (UTC)
I'd disagree with this as well. We must observe the actor/character dichotomy. For instance, let's assume that the LEGO Harry Potter had never been released and that, as a result, we couldn't have identified Hazel Showham as the extra who played Professor Vector. So, if we went ahead with what Hunnie Bunn is proposing, then we would end up with an article about a Hogwarts teacher whose name was "Hazel Showham". We, of course, know that this would be erroneous, as that "Hazel Showham" professor would, in fact, be called "Septima Vector".
That's why we should not include actors' names as the names of the background extras that they play: because they are never even hinted to exist in the in-universe world -- "character" and "actor" are two completely different concepts (of course, it is an entirely different case with Daniel Radcliffe (in-universe) and Richard Griffiths (in-universe) -- because the actors themselves have been turned to actual characters in the Harry Potter continuity (albeit merely alluded characters). --  Seth Cooper  owl post! 15:06, November 11, 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for responding; I do understand, but is there nothing that can be done for all the unidentifieds, do they have to just be "Black-haired death eater", "Female death eater at the graveyard", and so on? I understand that we can't use actors' names, but do the characters have to be nameless. --Remember (Least We Forget) 15:28, November 11, 2012 (UTC)
