I've seen these on other wikis (Wookieepedia comes to mind) and I have to say I generally do not like them and personally perceive them as "ugly", and would rather not see them implemented here. However, if other users like the idea, I'm certainly not going to stand in the way. I do have to say, however, that the appearances section would still have to stay regardless, as it gives info other than which books (films, games, w/e) the subject appeared in, such as the nature of that appearance (Did it directly appear? Was it just mentioned? Was that apperance canon? etc.) which simply cannot be expressed well via these icons. -- 1337star (Owl Post) 23:39, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

**You're right. The appearance section should stay. However, I personally think that they're a good idea. Mace1700 23:41, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

Forums: Index > The Wizengamot > Top right icon

So I was thinking, maybe we should have top right icons (technically top left icons) for this wiki. If you do not know what they are, they are small 30x30 pixel boxes on the top left of your screen above the article's content that show appearances in games. For examples, see the Call of Duty Wiki. We already use this to a small amount. What I mean is the image of the Golden Snitch that is on articles that have been previously featured. Except it will be on the left side of the page, just below the article's title. We could get rid of "Appearances" sections, and make article seem cleaner and more organized. If so, the template's coding could be "...". If we do this, I could get the coding for it, and someone will have to get small images for the icons themselves, and finally, an administrator should protect the page, seeing as it would be seen on every article on the wiki.

Ideas for Icons

 • I think that icons for things that appeared in the books would have black boxes, with the abbreviations of the books in white lettering. if it appeared in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, it'd have a black box saying "COS" in the middle.
 • I think that icons for things that appeared in the films would have black boxes, with abbreviations of the books in the centre in white lettering, but saying "film" in the corner in small print. The same would go for video games, except it would say "game" rather than "film".
 • For article on cut content, we would have a image of a pair of scissors.

If possible, I would like to get started on this as soon as possible! Discuss it below in the comments! Mace1700 23:31, December 11, 2011 (UTC)
