Forums: Index > The Wizengamot archive > Time to Scrap the House Points Game?

I put a lot of work into getting the House Points Game running, so, on a personal level, it saddens me to make this proposal. But the past few weeks, in which no points have been given out, have convinced me that my idea really isn't all that feasible. Now that it's summer, many of the Prefects will be more busy than usual, and won't have as much time to spend on the wiki. Prefects seem to be directing the time they do have to spend on the wiki toward other pursuits. Simply put, it doesn't seem fair to keep the game going, with people working to earn points, when Prefects either won't be around or won't have the time to give points. My sentiments exactly... Maybe we can temporarily disable the House Points Game, reinstating it in mid-September, when most users have returned from their vacations and such-and-such. -- Seth Cooper Moon (Owl Post) 23:37, 1 July 2009 (UTC)
Well, I was suggesting that we permanently cancel it, but it does seem reasonable to simply put it on hiatus for the summer. Starstuff (Owl me!) 18:56, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
That is a bit sad. But, i guess it would save time when users look at the hourglass annoyed because there is still no change. It's Winter in the south though.ShirleyALuna Lovegood(The Quibbler) 10:31, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
I think that we have to stop it only in the summer time. And restart it again in mid-September.--96ken(Talk) 12:56, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
I've put the game on hiatus for now. The new term will start September 15. In the meantime, perhaps we can work on some ideas to make the next round run more smoothly, such standards for giving out points? Starstuff (Owl me!) 04:13, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

What do you mean by standards?ShirleyALuna Lovegood(The Quibbler) 10:24, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

More of so that points aren't given out for everything but for more noteworthy achievements (rewriting an article, creating an article with a decent amount of content, etc.). The idea isn't to be "if you do a you'll get b points." -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 01:18, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
I thought that was how it already was. Am I mistaken? ShirleyALuna Lovegood(The Quibbler) 03:21, 8 July 2009 (UTC)
