:It seems to me like you're referring to sourcing where information comes from for a particular character or event or whatever, we already do that. Check pages such as Harry Potter, there's a good amount of notes and references. -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 14:29, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Forums: Index > The Wizengamot > Thinking of a new stategy to source the film/novel differences on the film page

One thing that has been bugging me for awhile is sourcing the notes on the differences between the novels and films on the film page since I feel uncomfortable about how notes are posted just like that, particularly the ones I am unfamiliar with. One idea I have is to source the chapters for the books for a number of reasons; a. To prove that the details are legit from the book. b. Make it easy to identify where to look in the book. c. Improve the overall quality of the page. Lastly d. To help the film pages get a better chance of being put on featured article status.

Also I think that if the movie details need to be sourced my best guess is to use the movie chapters from the Dvd's since it would be quicker to trace other than just using news articles and such to source it.

Right now my idea is in the planning stages but I would like to see what others think of my idea since I wish to improve the quality of this site. -Adv193 01:00, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

Are there any other wikis that seem to have a better way of doing it? -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 03:25, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

One Wikia site which I know of that sources original material of a series is for the Japanese manga/anime series Naruto where for instance the page for their character Sasuke Uchiha had references of where to find the original manga chapters and page numbers. Also not to long ago on Wikipedia I noticed that the that one of the reference data for the Marvel Comics Superhero Daredevil at this time of coding system for a reference with the reference tag. If you look at the reference tag around abilities and powers you'll see how that coding system was set up.

If something similar to this could be developed to help with referencing on the HP movie pages for the differences between the books and movies then it would be helpful. But all I think that needs to be done is to have book chapters and pages from the books and movie chapters from the movies. -Adv193 05:17, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
