I've been doing some thinking, and since Harry could speak Parseltongue because he had a fraction of Voldemort's soul residing in his body, is it also likely that Harry's wand chose him because it recognised the same power in him that Voldemort possessed, hence they had wands with the same core material from the same Phoenix? If this is the case, since Harry lost the ability to speak Parseltongue after the portion of Voldemort's soul living in him was destroyed, would the wand realise that he no longer had the same power and the strength of the connection between harry and his wand reduced? --Potterwatcher 12:38, January 30, 2010 (UTC)

Well, you could see it like that. but you could also say that it may of chosen him because of riddle, but it may have grown a realationship over time. -- Ratneer Owl Me! 23:03, January 30, 2010 (UTC)
Don't forget though, that while they share twin cores, the wand woods are exact opposites in symbolism: holly repels evil, while yew represents death. - Nick O'Demus 11:46, February 2, 2010 (UTC)
