In the OOTP film why is it that you can hear the Ordinary Boys in the Gryffindor common room? I thought Harry Potter is based around the early-mid 90's. 90.194.175.126 22:15, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Rupert Grint stated it in an interview that director David Yates chose to play contemporary music like The Ordinary Boys during common rooms scenes in order to give them a more casual feel. Keeping consistent with the official timeline might have never crossed his mind, or perhaps he thought it more important to go with recent bands, because he wanted to capture teenagers hanging around in a very natural setting and this is what the teenage actors listened to themselves. If you want to rationalize it, though, the song featured in the movie, "Boys Will Be Boys", does sound a bit like the stuff that came out during the Britpop phenomenon of 1994 to 1997. It's not hard to pretend that The Ordinary Boys broke a decade earlier and played on the radio alongside Blur. ;) Starstuff (Owl me!) 01:34, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
