Do you think that there would be an Irish Ministry of Magic? If so I think we should all do some digging. It would rearly expand the Ireland page. I'll have a look round and see if there is any information on an Irish Ministry of Magic. The Umbridge 16:23, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I've never heard anything about it, but I would think that there has to be an Irish Ministry. The United Kingdom includes England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, but the Republic of Ireland is a separate country. I would also guess that the history of the magical communities in these areas is different from the "Muggle" one, so it's possible that, say, wizarding Ireland never had a political union with wizarding Britain. It's also possible that the entire British Isles constitute one political unit in the wizarding world, but I find that less likely. The title "Ministry of Magic" suggests that the wizarding world's government is, at least officially, only a part of the entire UK's government - that it's just a ministry like any other, subservient to the Prime Minister and the Queen. If that's the case, then Ireland's magical population would have to be under the jurisdiction of the Irish government, not the British one. But the Ministry functions like it's own government, so that may be a moot point... My guess would be that there is an Irish Ministry, but that it coordinates a lot with the British Ministry, since some of its citizens seem to, for example, attend Hogwarts (e.g. Seamus Finnigan). I'd be curious to know if anyone found any official info on that, though. Oread 16:57, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I believe that, in the HP universe, Wizarding Ireland as a whole is united with the rest of the Wizarding UK. The Quidditch league, for instance, is known as the British and Irish Quidditch League, and, as stated, Seamus is a pupil at Hogwarts. Also, the Irish Quidditch team is just that - the Irish Quidditch team, a seemingly unified team. Taking football (soccer for you Americans) in the real world as an example, Ireland fields two teams - Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland because of the political divide. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 17:36, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Mabye the Irish Wizarding goverment will have an ambassador in the Wizenagamot and vice versa. If that, I think that the Irish Wizarding goverment and the Ministry of Magic will have a certain degree of controll over new laws in both countries. As you say Cavalier One, the Quiditch League is called the British and Irish League. What I gather from that is the Ministry's Department of Games and Sports will have close links with the Irish govermential body. The Umbridge 19:25, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
