I was wondering if someone was able to make out the text visible on that book at the Restricted Section in PS/f. I couldn't make out more than loose words and small phrases like "Church", "Religion" (and " Religious"), "God", "Slaying of Isaac", "Revelation", "Dead", etc., but it would be nice to know what most of the text says. --21:32, September 29, 2009 (UTC)
- I singled out a sentence and did a search on Google Books. Turns out it's a transcription of a Christian sermon called "Of sincerity toward God and man," which was delivered by John Tillotson on July 29, 1694. The book that appears in the film is presumably The Works of the Most Reverend Dr. John Tillotson.
- The Restricted Section scene was presumably filmed in an old library, with the filmmakers using one of the antique books in the library's collection, instead of creating their own prop. ★ Starstuff (Owl me!) 16:09, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
- Correction: The left page is from "Of sincerity toward..." and the right page is from another sermon called "The excellency of Abraham's faith and obedience."
- It also looks like someone in the special effects department digitally replaced some of the book's original text with names: "Laura and Chas" (left page, bottom paragraph), "Terry Michelle Chloe and Aimee" (middle right page), "Debbie Amy and Leon" (right page, bottom paragraph). This was presumably done as a tribute to this person's family and friends. ★ Starstuff (Owl me!) 16:52, October 1, 2009 (UTC)
