::I know for sure that "jumper" is changed to "pullover" and "sweater" in American books, but on this wikia it stays "jumper" so it's very helpful to have a conversion page. If you initiate the page I'd be more than happy to add whatever info I can to it.. and i'm really interested to learn more cultural language differences! Forums: Index > The Wizengamot archive > Slang Page

Something i've been thinking of lately, and was on the talk page for "wotcher." I think it would be really helpful to have a slang page for people who aren't from the UK with words like wotcher and jumper and their appropriate translation into other languages, like the pages that give the various translations of "Lord Voldemort." I would create it myself but i'm not 100% familiar with the slang. In fact wotcher and jumper are the only two i can think of at the moment. What do you think? I would rather have a slang page myself, rather than small pages for each single word. Being English, I can help with it if you like. Other slang includes git, sod, blimey, crikey, etc. As far as I know, some of the more "British" terms were changed for the American editions. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 00:01, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
I know for sure that "jumper" is changed to "pullover" and "sweater" in American books, but on this wikia it stays "jumper" so it's very helpful to have a conversion page. If you initiate the page I'd be more than happy to add whatever info I can to it.. and i'm really interested to learn more cultural language differences! Mafalda Hopkirk 00:06, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
I'll give it a go. I'll have to comb through the books carefully - words I take for granted may be words that would be included in the page. Oh, well. Gives me an excuse to reread the books. Like I need one :) - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 00:29, 29 November 2007 (UTC)
