Forums: Index > The Wizengamot archive > Quote of the week

Why is there no quote of the week? There was a vote going on and we should continue with whatever quote has the most. Who is in charge of counting the votes and posting the quote of the week anyway? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ohmbun (talkcontribs).

Yes. There is a vote going on. it is in the Featured Content section. There is probably no quote for no subm, itted quotes have enough votes. ShirleyALuna Lovegood(The Quibbler) 07:13, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
I've gone through Template talk:QotW and promoted everything that had at least 3 supporting votes and no opposing votes. We should be good for the next few weeks, right up to week 30, which I believe includes Harry's birthday (July 31). I think we should pick a thematic quote for that week to commemorate this day. Any suggestions?
I agree. We should submit some quotes about Harry's birthday and place it as quote of the week around the 31st of July eventhough another quote might have won and postpone the eventual winning quote for the next week.--Ohmbun 06:28, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Also, I think we may need to redesign the QotW voting page, as its current layout is confusing. We might also want to consider having an archive for previous nominations like there is for Featured Articles. Starstuff (Owl me!) 00:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
We have one: Template:QotW/Archive; this only shows promoted ones, however.--Matoro183 (Talk) 00:24, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
I mean an archive that includes nominations that don't get promoted. This would preserve a record of votes and comments. Starstuff (Owl me!) 04:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Do we need to archive them? I don't really see any reason to (even the Featured Articles...) I mean there's nothing saying the quote cannot just be renominated so...why are we keeping them I guess is my question? -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 17:46, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Maybe so that people know that it was already submitted and would know not to nominate heaps of doubles. ShirleyALuna Lovegood(The Quibbler) 07:52, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I wasn't clear -- I know we need an archive of promoted things, but do we need an archive of failed ones? -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 11:36, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
Voting is kind of a formal process, so I think that, for the sake of formality, we need to keep a record of every vote held. An organized archive would also be a much easier way to look up past votes than hunting through diffs. Starstuff (Owl me!) 19:53, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
I agree with Starstuff. People may want to know what quotes were rejected before they submit one of their own. You know, to have a general idea of what is not good. ShirleyALuna Lovegood(The Quibbler) 10:22, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
