Forums: Index > The Wizengamot > Listing All Recent Discussions

Hi all. With the various conversations going on across the forums and talk pages, I found myself having to scroll through or filter RC quite a bit to see what is being said. To make things easier, I set up an activityfeed template that only shows discussion items like Talk and Forum. That way discussions don't get lost for me in the other article updates.

I also added this to my User:Ironyak1/wikia.js so that it appears as part of the right sidebar (or wikiarail) under the Recent Wiki Activity box. Just wanted to share in case others are looking for an easier way to keep track of all the chatter. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 19:39, May 20, 2016 (UTC)

Edits to Special:MyPage/wikia.js just appear to you, nobody else (unless they copy the JS to their own wikia.js file) and many people don't understand anything about code, so expecting them to use random JS snippets that may do nothing to improve their experience seems strange.
Additionally, this is pointless. There is an RC filter that allows the filtering of namespaces, so a page that does the same thing is mostly redundant. I would also not be recommending the filtering of namespaces either, but I would recommend changing your preferences to show more edits at once (I have mine set to show 275 edits at once) and to use Grouped RC. --Sajuuk 19:53, May 20, 2016 (UTC)
Agreed - if anyone wants to add the List of Recent Discussion to your Wikia display, copy User:Ironyak1/wikia.js and paste it here Special:MyPage/wikia.js. I'll leave my activityfeedTalk template where it is so nothing breaks or you can copy it to your User space, update your wikia.js, and change the list as desired (more/less items, include blogs or not, etc)
This can't be pointless because I am using it, and find it far more clear and efficient than filtering RC, so it has a several fine points for me. ;) If others find it useful, then great; if not, then no harm done. As you said, there is always RecentChanges. Cheers --Ironyak1 (talk) 20:09, May 20, 2016 (UTC)
