I think we should remove the Leaky Cauldron forum. It's getting a little out of hand. Recent Topic: "Forum:Wizarding Pick-Up Lines". I mean seriously, why should we keep this kind of junk? The forum also keeps users from editing articles. Almost half of the new users only edit the Leaky Cauldron forum. It needs to go.--Matoro183 (Talk) 02:12, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

As the one responsible for its creation, I am sorry to see the state that it has become. I have considered deleting it, and it has been discussed in IRC several times. My only concern is that without it, article talk pages will become cluttered. However, to combat this, we can institute a strict article talk page policy to forbid off-topic chat material. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 09:30, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes. I also think it should be deleted. I can work on a talk page policy if you guys want. -- Freakatone Talk 10:35, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Please do Freakatone. And I think its time to go, although I have to say it might be good to have a couple other forums. Perhaps one for discussion of projects or things that need to be done, etc.? I'm not sure. -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 17:50, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Any admin that wants to help create the policy page can do so here. -- Freakatone Talk 20:11, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Are we gonna to wait until the policy's done to get rid of the forum?--Matoro183 (Talk) 12:49, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
I think we should wait. The policy is coming along well, it will be finished soon anyways. -- Freakatone Talk

I think we should wait. -- DarkJedi613 (Talk) 21:35, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
The policy has been put up here, and matoro and i deleted the forum. We decided to leave a message up on the forum page for a while. -- Freakatone Talk 01:53, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Discuss ideas for a new forum here. I think we need more than just one forum.--Matoro183 (Talk) 02:09, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't think you should have deleted it. Maybe you could have made it more orgonised by a few editing bits and bobs. I'm really disapointed that it had to go. Please reconsider this message. It was a way people could just let ask all the questions they wanted, and I've loads more questions to ask. Please please put it backFired Water 10:08, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

The Leaky Cauldron is gone and will not be coming back. While I find this sad, as I was the one who pushed for it, and designed and implemented it, the general consensus was that the forum was being abused on an almost daily basis. Editors were not contributing to articles, which is the entire point of a having a wiki, and were posting solely in forum threads. Topics were being posted on subjects that could be answered by reading the article in question, or on useless topics such as "Who would you marry?" (which I personally find a little strange and worrying considering the fact that nearly all the main characters are underage for the majority of the books). As stated, this is not a general Harry Potter fan site, and there are plenty of other forums out there to ask your questions, or post your thoughts and speculations on. Valid questions regarding the wiki can be asked over at The Wizengamot, and valid questions regarding specific articles and their content can be asked on the relevant talk page. Off-topic chat, however, will be deleted. - Cavalier One(Wizarding Wireless Network) 11:46, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
