Its not very clearly mentioned on exactly how wormtail dies in the Malfoy Manor.THe last thing said is that he gave his wand away and dies.Did his own silver hand kill him.If so how? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 188.8.131.52 (talk • contribs) 13:01, September 2, 2009.
- The silver hand was created for Pettigrew by Lord Voldemort. Voldemort must have been put a secret enchantment on the hand, so that when Pettigrew hesitated to kill Harry after Harry mentioned the Life Debt he owed, the hand turned on Pettigrew for showing disloyalty to Voldemort. ★ Starstuff (Owl me!) 13:19, September 2, 2009 (UTC)
Because Voldemort wanted Harry dead, and Wormtail hesitated to kill him.
He wouldnt be able to kill harry because of the life debt. But as said before, Voldermort must have knew...Leglimens
Voldemort's first words after he creates the silver hand for Wormtail in 'the Goblet of Fire' are: "May your loyalty never waver again, Wormtail". This is foreshadowing the death of Wormtail in a very clever way. It signifies that Voldemort knew that Wormtail's loyalty would faulter again and so gave him, what was essentially, a ticking time-bomb for a hand that would kill him the moment he disobeyed his master, or otherwise obeyed someone else's command instead of his. In 'the Deathly Hallows', Harry, on the point of suffocation managed to gasp at Wormtail: "You're going to kill me? After I saved your life? You owe me Wormtail." It's ironic that Wormtail was punished for being noble for the first time in his life - he repayed his debt to Harry. Voldemort could perform Legilimency, and very well, but he didn't need it to know what kind of cowardly and disloyal Death Eater Wormtail was. Voldemort was not foolish enough to believe that Peter Pettigrew returned to him out of loyalty to his master; he knew that he returned out of fear of the then at large Death Eaters who blamed Pettigrew for Voldemort's fall from power. After all, it was Pettigrew who sold the Potters to Voldemort in the first place and therefore, allowed the subsequent sequence of events that led to a one year-old infant's defeat of the most powerful Dark Wizard of all time.--Yin&Yang 14:54, September 7, 2009 (UTC)
