Hi, When the trio are in the Three Broomsticks in The Half Blood Prince film, what does Hermoine order? She ends up being drunk and you can't drunk from one butterbeer can you? CSmith 19:48, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

She gets drunk? I don't recall. All I remember was her foam mustache, which Ron pointed out. On the walk back to Hogwarts, she appeared to be fine, as well. Was she stumbling or slurring? Because I don't remember this. Is there a video you could provide? Immobulus 21:00, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

She starts stumbling then puts her arms around Harrys and then Rons necks CSmith 08:48, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

They all were, but I believe that was because of the intense wind, not because they were drunk.--Matoro183 Ravenclawcrest (Talk) 20:10, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
I don't know, she did look a little tipsy to me. In the Three Broomsticks scene, she also downed her first butterbeer before either Harry or Ron touched theirs. I guess either Hermione had a few more rounds then the boys, or else she's just a total lightweight. Nick O'Demus 20:18, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
In the film adaption Hermione downs her Butterbeer after Ron does something to hurt her feelings (unintentionally), Ron and Harry don't drink theirs. On the walk back Hermione is not drunk but is "high spirited" instead. Butterbeer doesn't cause humans to get drunk. But Hermione is clearly not drunk as the events that follow (Katie Bell being cursed) she appears normal. Patr0nus 10:51, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

In the Goblet Of Fire Winky gets drunk off of butterbeer, so it is plausible she was tipsy. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by In Transit (talkcontribs) 10:21, 19 July 2009.

I always assumed that Butterbeer had a very low alcohol content, which wouldn't effect a human (unless they drunk a lot of it one sitting), but which could easily make a house-elf drunk, given that they are smaller and probably have a tiny liver which can't process the alcohol out of the bloodstream as fast an adult human's. Also, this passage from Half-Blood Prince, Ch. 14, suggests that Butterbeer is alcoholic: "Although Harry watched his two friends more closely over the next few days, Ron and Hermione did not seem any different except that they were a little politer to each other than usual. Harry supposed he would just have to wait to see what happened under the influence of Butterbeer in Slughorn's dimly lit room on the night of the party." <font face="Times" In the film, Slughorn slops his drink (presumably alcoholic) over Hermione's spot at the table. It seems possible that some of it got into her glass. --Parodist 00:34, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

Butter beer is only strong for Elves.....I dont think Hermione even got drunk....maybe just acting a little crazy...It just might have been one of things the movie added on to....because she seemed fine till the end... :D --Beautiful altar 05:38, October 19, 2009 (UTC)

If you drink a low alcohol persentage drink quickly enough, you can still get drunk. Which is why college students use funnels, they can pour cheap beer and still get absolutely wasted -Helpful Anon

Dont be naive, of course they were getting drunk! Normal teenage behaviour at that age.
