Forums: Index > The Wizengamot > Discussion of an article deletion

Hi. Currently the wiki requests that users who disagree with the deletion of an article should go to the candidates for deletion category talkpage. Personally, I find this a rather strange way of going about it: I get that it's for centralisation, but it makes it difficult to find the associated discussions.

I'd like to recommend that deletion discussions be centered on the article's talkpage. This seems like an obvious change, but apparently it's a "policy change" and "needs to be discussed with the community", so here's the thread. Discussing the deletion tag on the article's talkpage makes sense, because then proper rationales can be provided there in a more open location: very few use category talkpages and they can be hard to find in general.

Most wiki's tend to use the article's talkpage, so I suspect the usage of the category talkpage may just be a relic of the default template and was never changed when the wiki was created. Feel free to discuss this here (wish the wiki used the Wikia forum module instead...) --Sajuuk 09:16, February 10, 2016 (UTC)

Bump. --Sajuuk 12:12, February 13, 2016 (UTC)
I have noticed that the merge notice template also asks people to use the category talkpage. The decision on the deletion template should retroactively apply to merging as well imo. --Sajuuk 16:52, February 15, 2016 (UTC)
It'd be nicer if we had the Wikia Forum module so that threads could be highlighted and seen by all... --Sajuuk 17:12, February 21, 2016 (UTC)
As this was pretty much never responded to, I am going to take it that the community has no opinion on this and doesn't have a concern about the change. So I've went ahead and changed the delete template to point at the article talkpage for discussing a deletion notice. --Sajuuk 15:19, March 3, 2016 (UTC)
