:::But what about Bellatrix? She used her wand to kill Sirius well before the overthrow of the ministry, not to mention all the other Azkaban escapees who participated in the Battle at the Department of Mysteries. - [[User:Nick O'Demus|Nick O'Demus]] 00:42, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

I think that JACOBSMITH95's suggestion makes the most sense. They probably hid their wands before they were captured, and then went back for them after their escape. Given the family link between Lucius Malfoy and the Lestranges, it's possible they entrusted their wands to him. [[User:Jayden Matthews|Jayden Matthews]] 07:20, 26 July 2009 (UTC)

How is it that when all the Death Eaters that were captured after the fall of the Dark Lord were still able to re-obtain their original wands? In Deathly Hallows it is said that Bellatrix's actual wand, the one that was used to torture Neville's parents, was the one Hermione got after Harry stole it. Is this just a hole in Rowling's story? Wouldn't the wands have been destroyed when they went to Azkaban? Jcabr003

Answer: No, many witches and wizards that spend time in Azkaban are able to retain their wands, such as Lucius Malfoy: in the movie of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince it is seen that Draco is in possession of his father's wand while he is in Azkaban. So as an educated guess from a big Harry Potter fan I would think that other death eaters would have entrusted their wands to other people or could have put them in their gringotts vault. And no withes or wizards wand was destroyed upon entering Azkaban as not all inmates had life sentences and would have retained their wands upon release —The preceding unsigned comment was added by JACOBSMITH95 (talkcontribs).

The wands of convicted criminals were presumably taken and held by the Ministry of Magic for the duration of the incarceration. When the Ministry came under Voldemort's control, it would have then given back all the wands it took from Death Eaters put in Azkaban. Starstuff (Owl me!) 18:04, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
That makes sense. It seems unlikely that convicted death eaters would have been given a choice as to where they kept their wands.ShirleyALuna Lovegood(The Quibbler) 00:35, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
