I've been looking through the categories carefully, and quite frankly, it's a mess. There are duplicate categories under different names and in different sections. (i.e. Images of food and drink under Category: Images, and Images of food in Category: Images of objects.) So I was thinking, I might start a project to try and fix this up, but I'm not sure if I can pull it off myself, or if it's even a good idea. So I thought I might ask the community for their ideas. - Starstuff and I redid all the categories of real stuff recently. If you make a list of what changes need to be made I can have my bot run through it. - I think that the image categorization structure should roughly mirror the article categorization structure. In other words, Category:Images could be divided into Category:Harry Potter universe images and Category:Real-world images, and both of those into applicable sub-categories. - I still think that having Category:Harry Potter universe images and Category:Real-world images would help to bring the image categories under control. We just wouldn't have to concern ourselves with ensuring that the subcategories of either adhered to the IU policy - Category:Images of actors wouldn't need to be changed to Category:Images of actors (real-world). ★ Starstuff (Owl me!) 11:17, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
I agree with Starstuff. That would really make categorization easier. Oh, and by the way, I have taken care of the double food category. I simply linked the Category:Images of food page to Category:Images of food and drink and moved all food pictures from Images of food and drink into Images of food. As there are only two drink images, I don't think there is a need for a Category:Images of Drink. But if you think it would be better, feel free to add it.
