Sounds good so far. Also, on a related note, I thought at first that was a Cannon Police. Since I am here, should we put stuff like reaction to harry potter? like that crazy woman who wanted to ban the books without reading it? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bluelantern (talk • contribs).

Such reaction should definitely be included on the Harry Potter series article (which, incidently, could use a lot of work). As for the Canon policy, as DJ knows, I am behind it 100%. - Cavalier One^{(Wizarding Wireless Network)} 08:07, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

I don't think we should a single page, I am not only talking about negative reaction, but essencially but "everything" that Harry potter could have influenced and cause, for example we could say that many people are "shippers" who chear for a relationship to happen, and many times those relatioship are complete crazy like Draco+Hermione (Unless she likes... not she can't like doing that stuff).—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bluelantern (talk • contribs).

ive already expressed my opinion on the talk page of the policy which is that only things from the books and what JKR has said should be cannon but ill add that other things such as photos from movies or things from games can be on the wiki aslong it is made clear that they anrn't official. However, we know that JK is involved in the movies to a certain point. She informed the writers that Dumbledore was gay before she revealed it publically to stop them adding a line where he talks about a girl he knew with Harry. From the PotterCast interview she did, we know she sits in on script readings. She specifically wrote the scene in Philosopher's Stone showing the death of James and Lily. She told them that leaving Kreacher out of Phoenix might cause them a headache with Deathly Hallows. She's very involved with the cast as well. As to the games, she is involved to a degree as well. This page has a series of interviews with the game developers where they talk about JK's involvement in the games. To quote:

J.K. Rowling, author of the amazingly successful Harry Potter novels, had a lot of input in the games. "Actually, we have been very lucky there," Proud says. "Indeed much of the stuff that we have put in the game which is outside the bounds of the fiction had to be put to her so that she could approve it and make sure she was happy with the way we were shaping the Harry Potter universe. Rowling seemed to be very happy that we were growing her fictional world and so she gave us a whole lot of extra fictional material which she hadn't used in the books to date. For example there is a new creature in the game, called a Gytrash, and it is something she created specifically for us," Proud says.

Note the underlined section. It appears, from that statement, that JK has to approve elements of the games to make sure it fits into her world.

As for being marked "Official" or not, I believe this is achievable through the proper application of sourcing articles. A game-only character will, in the Appearances section, only have the relevant game listed, allowing readers and editors to be aware of material that the character originated in. - Cavalier One^{(Wizarding Wireless Network)} 08:40, 8 February 2008 (UTC)

Nicely worded. Also, this is the Harry Potter wiki -- we really should include all relevent information, no matter how "canon" it is. And just to point it out -- "canon" has only one 'n' (see canon on Wikipedia. -- DarkJedi613 ^(Talk) 13:44, 8 February 2008 (UTC)
