Hi. I have a question regarding Bellatrix Lestrange. I'm currently working on a rewrite of the article to bring it up to a higher standard of featured article. And what I wanted to know was, in HPB Bellatrix isnt mentioned in relation to the Battle of the Lighting struck Tower, yet in the trailer for the movie she is seen fighting in the battle and setting fire to Hagrid's cabin. The book doesnt say she fought in the battle, yet it doesnt say that she didnt. Do we consider her involvement in the battle canon because the book doesnt contradict it? Also I wanted to know, the film has added a new scene which doesnt appear in the book at all, in which Bellatrix leads a group of death eaters in attacking and torching the burrow. Do we consider this canon, or make a mention of these events in the article? Jayce Carver Slytheirncrest Talk 12:52, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

I would say that the Battle of the Lightning Struck Tower part is probably canon. There's nothing to dispute it. In the Burrow scene, the best thing to do would be to add a little bit about it in the "Behind the Scenes" section. Hope that helps! -- Freakatone Talk 14:35, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

The movies differ from the books all the time. It's the same with most movies based on good books (Hp, Twilight, Eragon, etc). You could just denote that those things only happen in the movies, or Freakatone's suggestion works too. Since the book doesn't contradict it, you could put the part about The Lightning Struck Tower, but the attack on the Burrow definitely wasn't in the book. if I remember correctly, in the book Scrimgeour just came to visit and Percy got splattered with mashed potatoes. nothing too exiting ;) Caramia95 19:42, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

I wouldnt consider much anything from the movies canon. Sometimes I feel like the director sits in his directors chair erasing parts of tthe book and rewriting them.

I generally don't think additions to the films should be considered canon even if nothing in the books contradicts them. If Bellatrix had been at the Battle of the Lightning-Struck Tower in the novel, I think she would've made her presence known, as the Death Eaters weren't wearing masks and Bellatrix is rather theatrical when she's on the offensive. She shouts taunting words at her opponents — that's not the kind of behavior that just blends into the background. I imagine the filmmakers inserted her into the HBP movie because she's a strong character and they thought her personality would add to the drama. If we decide to include pictures of Bellatrix's non-canonical HBP scenes in the main body of her article, rather than in the "Behind the scenes" section, we should do so with a caption that doesn't contradict canon. For instance, the picture of Bellatrix Lestrange killing Sirius in the OotP film is captioned "Bellatrix using the Killing Curse," not "Bellatrix casting the Killing Curse on Sirius Black," because we don't know which spell she uses in the book. Like others have said, these scenes will be present in the movie but were not mentioned in the books. While they are likely to be false but this is not proven. They could be mentioned as 'possibles' not 'definites' --ShirleyA 08:16, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
