Can anybody tell me where exactly all the American, Russian, Chinese, and etc. are?

Foreign Wizards and Witches are discussed in the 4th book when they all go to the Quidditch world cup. There are American witches from Salem as far as I remember. Lysander Scamander 20:48, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- I find it hard to believe that the international wizarding community didn't know what was going on in Britain under Voldemort's regime. It's not like nations in the wizarding world are completely isolationist: there is cultural exchange, in the form of the Quidditch World Cup and Triwizard Tournament, and political cooperation, in the form of the International Confederation of Wizards. As for why other nations did not intervene in the Second Wizarding War, it's possible that non-intervenionism is a universally-accepted foreign policy in the wizarding world, or that Voldemort and his allies were able to prevent foreign witches and wizards from entering the country. ★ Starstuff (Owl me!) 21:08, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
- I would have thought more that foreign countries did not want to fight Voldemort and then find that he is too powerful. Like if Voldemort were to attack them as well for more power, you know? ShirleyA

- It's just like in real life, where it took the rest of the world a while to realise that Hitler was building and army, and the Nazis were persecuting Jews. Also, why would you go overseas to Europe or Britain to fight an army that you're not even sure is real? It's not like America or other countries would've known about the few battles that happened, nor would they have had time to get over there in time to fight either. Another point is that the books focus on Harry, why would he be thinking about people in other countries? J.K. Rowling does mention wizard in countries like America and Australia though. --Margiechocoholic

Who knows how many other "Voldemort"-like people could be terrorizing other major countries? Or what if two whole wizarding countries were at war? Or goblin wars? Though it seems unlikely that the Harry Potter trio would have been completely oblivious to all the other going-ons around the planet, it would still be cool if J.K.
