Forums: Index > The Wizengamot archive > A one time vandalism, one week ban policy

I think that this would be helpful becouse let's just face it, vandalism can't be acidental. Also we should be especially tough on vandals becouse this wiki is frequently viewed by children, so tell me what do you think? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Harry Potter Fantic 1 (talkcontribs).

There is already policy concerning this: Harry Potter Wiki Policy -Matoro183 (Talk) 01:31, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Defining a set period of time is a bad idea. You need to judge each case individually. A page blank may be a newbie editing for the first time, so you wouldn't want to ban them. Whereas mass blankings from a single IP are obviously vandalism, so you would ban. Replacing pages with profanities and (often sexually) inappropriate content obviously warrants a longer ban. -- Manticore Gryffindor Talk | Contribs 06:11, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
The policy I stated above says that vandals will be blocked for 24-72 hours as after a warning, then dealt with however the sysops feel best.-Matoro183 (Talk) 11:49, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

I think we should stick with the policy that Matoro stated but perhaps with more severe punishments, to send a message. Snoops619

I agree, I think we need to be very severe, as this wiki is frequently used by children. I am also curious if there is any way to ban people who are using only an IP address.Harry Potter Fantic 1 02:40, 15 December 2007 (UTC)Harry Potter Fantic 1
