Flying Seahorses are a wizarding version of muggle world Seahorses. The only known Flying Seahorses live in the Hogwarts Lake. In Harry's third year he had to bring some to Severus Snape for a potions lesson to make the Girding Potion. They can simply be pulled out of the water with Carpe Retractum.
