- "I don't think I learned enough in Herbology class to know how to use this flower."
- — Harry Potter, regarding Floo powder.[src]
Floo is a flowering plant with magical properties. Floo powder is extracted from the flowers of this plant,[1] as devised by a Medieval witch Ignatia Wildsmith.
Behind the scenes
- On Pottermore, it is revealed that a single company, Floo-Pow, was licensed to make Floo Powder in Britain, and that the composition of its product was a "closely guarded secret" no one had managed to figure out.[2] Thus, this plant must be considered non-canonical, as it is unlikely its existence or practical application would be widely known, much less taught in Herbology class at Hogwarts.
