Harry Potter: "— what were you doing down there, anyway?"
Rubeus Hagrid: "I was lookin’ fer a Flesh-Eatin’ Slug Repellent. They’re ruinin’ the school cabbages."
— Rubeus Hagrid to Harry Potter in Knockturn Alley[src]

Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent was a pesticide potion used to get rid of Flesh-Eating Slugs. It can be purchased in Knockturn Alley,[1] and its slogan was "with slugs out, mandrakes sprout."[3]

History[]

During the 1988–1989 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Jacob's sibling and Liz Tuttle helped Professor Pomona Sprout spraying Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent on Mandrakes to prevent slugs from eating them.[4]

During the 1989–1990 school year, Bill Weasley taught a group of sixth-years how to defend themselves from Flesh-Eating Slugs by wielding this particular pesticide against the creatures in one of his evening Defence Against the Dark Arts classes.[2]

In the summer of 1992, Rubeus Hagrid went to Knockturn Alley to buy this product, as Flesh-Eating Slugs were destroying the cabbage crop at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While there, he ran into Harry Potter, who had gotten lost after a Floo powder-related accident, and escorted him out of Knockturn Alley back to the Weasley family in Diagon Alley from whom he had become separated.[1]

Another time, when Harry, Ron, and Hermione were discussing that Hagrid might be the heir of Slytherin, Hagrid showed up behind them in the courtyard carrying a can of Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent.[3]
