"Hey, Johnson, what's with that hairstyle, anyway? Why would anyone want to look like they've got worms coming out of their head?"

The worm is an invertebrate animal consisting of a tube-like body with no legs.

History[]

As a very young child, Zygmunt Budge pretended to brew potions by using a bucket and handfuls of worms.[1]

In the late 19th century, Hilda transfigured her classmate, Astoria Crickett, into a worm.[2]

Earthworms were a flavour of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans.[3]

Whizzing Worms was a magical joke product that caused worms to bubble up when added to a liquid.[4]

Peter Pettigrew was commonly known by the nickname "Wormtail", presumably due to his Animagus form (the tail of the rat somewhat resembles a worm).[5][6]

When Harry Potter told Hermione Granger about his belief that his father had saved him and Sirius Black from a Dementor attack, Buckbeak was digging in the earth, apparently in search of worms.[7]

In September 1995, Pansy Parkinson insulted Angelina Johnson's braided hair, comparing it to worms.[8]

In December 1996 at The Burrow, Harry Potter and Rufus Scrimgeour observed a garden gnome trying to dig up worms in the frozen ground to eat.[9]

Worms could be used as bait for fish. The Hogwarts potions champion dug up some worms to use for this purpose during the Wizarding Schools Potions Championship, planning to taint the caught fish with Shrinking Solution and feed them to the River Troll blocking their path.[1]
