The water lily is a member of Nymphaeaceae, a family of flowering plants that generally grow on the surface of water.[3] Giant water lilies, large enough to support the weight of a human, grew in the small bodies of water located in the Forbidden Forest. They could be made to bloom via the use of the Herbivicus Charm.[1] Water lilies were also visible in the fountains in the grounds of Hogwarts Castle and the Highlands.[2]
