Spellbound was a wizarding celebrity magazine that was in publication in 1927, with the tagline Celebrity Secrets and Spell Tips of the Stars!.

History[]

In 1927, it ran a mistaken cover story on Newton Scamander's supposed engagement to Leta Lestrange.[1] The said issue included coverage of the "couple", with Newt's brother Theseus Scamander at their side. In reality, Theseus was the one who was to marry Leta rather than Newt, who was to serve as best man.[2]

When Porpentina Goldstein saw the mistaken cover story, she believed that Newt loved Leta and resolved to move on with her life, eventually starting to date another wizard, Achilles Tolliver, a fellow MACUSA Auror.[1] When Queenie Goldstein showed Newt the magazine, he corrected who was to marry who and later explained the truth to Tina while infiltrating the French Ministry of Magic to seek information about Credence Barebone's lineage.[2]

Unfortunately, the misreported wedding never took place, as Leta was killed by Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald at her family's mausoleum at the Cimetière du Père-Lachaise of Paris, France.[2]

During the Calamity in the late 2010s and early 2020s, a Calamity Investigator working for the Statute of Secrecy Task Force discovered a long-forgotten Spellbound interview given by Dedalus Diggle, in which he discussed simple counter-jinxes that he "adored". The Calamity Investigator studied his lesson closely, increasing their ability to break through their opponents' defences.[3]
