- "All students will submit to questioning about suspected illicit activities."
- — The Decree[src]
The Educational Decree Number Eighty-Two was one of the Educational Decrees created by Dolores Umbridge, at the time-Hogwarts High Inquisitor. Umbridge passed this Decree when she was suspicious a secret organisation was violating Educational Decree Number Twenty-Four. While the students were questioned under this decree, Dolores Umbridge would offer them Veritaserum disguised as tea.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- As the numbering for this Educational Decree is not consistent with the numbering established in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it cannot be considered canonical.
- It was because of Umbridge giving Veritaserum to Cho Chang while being questioned that she betrayed the Dumbledore's Army to her, in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. In the novel, it was Marietta Edgecombe who betrayed the DA, and did so voluntarily.
