- "I don't know 'bout you, it's just too hot today, isn't it? And it's going to get even worse. Temperatures up in the mid-30s Celcius. That's the mid-90s Fahrenheit, tomorrow maybe even hitting a hundred."

A heat wave is a prolonged period of exceptionally hot weather.[1]
History[]
1995 heat wave[]
In the summer of 1995, the United Kingdom was hit by a major heat wave, with temperatures reaching 90° Fahrenheit, in London and slightly less in other areas of the country, leading Met Office to issue a Level 3 Heat-Health Alert for the first time ever.[2]
On 2 August, temperatures rose to the mid-90s Fahrenheit (approximately 35°C) , and an FM radio host announced that the following day could possibly see temperatures climb to 100° Fahrenheit (approximately 38°C).[3]
In Little Whinging, the use of hosepipes were banned, leaving the front lawns at Privet Drive parched and yellowing, and the cars dusty.[3] The Dursleys were known to, however, cheat this ban on occasion.[4]
