- — Ronald Weasley and Harry Potter play hangman[src]
Hangman is a guessing game for two or more players. One player thinks of a word and the other tries to guess it by suggesting letters. The players can use paper and pencil or a blackboard.[1]
History[]
Sometime prior to its release to Muggle publication in 2001, Harry and Ron played hangman in the blank space of the edition notice of Harry's copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. The word was Acromantula, but Ron failed to guess it before being "hung".[2]
During a fifth-year History of Magic class in the 1995–1996 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, when fifth-year students had to write an essay on Giant Wars, Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley instead spent an hour and twenty minutes playing hangman in the corner of Harry's parchment.[3]
