- "Boys must be seen to keep their hands on the outside of their school capes."
- — The Decree.[src]
The Educational Decree Number Thirty-Seven was one of the Educational Decree created by Dolores Umbridge, then-Hogwarts High Inquisitor. This Educational Decree made it mandatory that male students showed their hands outside their school robes.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
- As the numbering for this Educational Decree is not consistent with the numbering established in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, it cannot be considered canonical.
- It is unclear why Dolores Umbridge would specifically make male students to keep their hands visibly outside their school robes: this could be an attempt to prevent smuggling of illicit items, such as Dungbombs or Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes products.
