"Dumbledore had drawn back his wand and waved it as though brandishing a whip. A long thin flame flew from the tip; it wrapped itself around Voldemort, shield and all."
— Description[src]

There existed a spell (incantation unknown) by which one could conjure a long, thin flame from the tip of one's wand with which they could bind, ensnare or presumably harm a foe in an action similar to that of an actual rope.[1]

History[]

Albus Dumbledore used this spell in an attempt to ensnare Lord Voldemort during their Duel in the Ministry Atrium. However, his attempts were thwarted when the Dark wizard transfigured the flame into a large serpent (using the fire to snake spell), which proceeded to attack Dumbledore.[1]
