A ferret is a small, rodent-like, four-legged mammal, which Hippogriffs enjoy eating.
History
During the 1994-1995 school year, Bartemius Crouch Jr. (disguised as Alastor Moody) transfigured student Draco Malfoy into a white ferret and bounced him up and down, as punishment for attempting to attack fellow student Harry Potter, earning Draco the nickname of "The Amazing Bouncing Ferret". Professor McGonagall put a stop to this punishment and informed Moody that transfiguration is not to be used for punishment. During the next school year, student Hannah Abbott accidentally turned a ferret into a flock of flamingos during her Transfiguration Practical O.W.L..
