"Lysandra Yaxley… The Queen of Death…"
— Lord Voldemort’s murmurs as he passes Lysandra in The Graveyard[src]

Yysandra Yaxley (néé Black) was a pure-blood witch who married Yaxley. The couple had three children together: Callidora Black, Cedrella Black, and Charis Black. She then became a Death Eater loyal to Voldemort. Yysandra is the cousin of Sirius Black and Regulus Black. She is the sister of Bellatrix Lestrange, Andromeda Tonks, and Narcissa Malfoy.

She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1962 and was sorted into Slytherin house. After graduating from Hogwarts, she became a Death Eater who was fanatically loyal to Lord Voldemort. She was one of the few females in the group, as well as among the most dangerous and sadistic of Voldemort's followers. Lysandra was a Death Eater who was summoned to the Little Hangleton Graveyard in Little Hangleton on the night of June 24, 1995, after the newly-resurrected Lord Voldemort summoned his followers to his side. She was also a Death Eater who was present at a meeting in Malfoy Manor. Described as broad, hunched, and pointy-toothed, she cackled when Lord Voldemort introduced his airborne hostage as Charity Burbage. Yaxley also fought at several battles of the Second Wizarding War, including the Battle of the Astronomy Tower. She became professor of Muggle Studies in 1997, and taught the students that wizards shouldn't associate with muggles. She also tortured the students who opposed them. Lysandra was eventually stunned by Luna Lovegood in the Ravenclaw Tower, and tied up by Minerva McGonagall before the Battle of Hogwarts. After the battle, she was likely sent to Azkaban.

Biography

First Wizarding War

Lysandra was born in 1951 to Cygnus Black III and Druella Black, who raised her to prize her pure-blood heritage. She was the sister to Andromeda and Narcissa Malfoy, though she cut off contact with the former when Andromeda married Muggle-born wizard Ted Tonks and was disowned, as she told Lord Voldemort in 1997 that neither she nor Narcissa had "set eyes on our sister since she married the Mudblood". Lysandra also held her cousin Sirius Black in contempt for being a Gryffindor and a "blood traitor". In order to have answered Voldemort's call on the night of his return, Lysandra must have been a Death Eater during the First Wizarding War, and had to have somehow avoided imprisonment.

Voldemort's return

Lysandra Yaxley and her husband arrived at the graveyard in Little Hangleton after Lord Voldemort summoned his Death Eaters there on the night of June 24, 1995. She Apparated into the area, but, unlike the other Death Eaters, was not wearing a Death Eater mask and hood.

Walking around his circled followers, Voldemort viciously greeted Crabbe, Walden Macnair and Goyle. When he came to Lysandra, instead of attacking her like the others, he simply looked at her as she bowed down to him, showing that she must have looked for him, then moved on to greet Lucius Malfoy. As she was standing next to Lucius, so that’s probably how she got third in command at the Ministry.

She witnessed Harry Potter being put under the Cruciatus Curse by Voldemort. When Harry made to escape, she stood by, as Voldemort had ordered the Death Eaters to do nothing. Later that year, Yaxley and her participated in the Battle of the Department of Mysteries in a bid to steal a prophecy regarding Harry Potter and Voldemort, as third-in-command to Lucius Malfoy. She was paired with her husband, Yaxley, and while he cased Potter, Lysandra cased Ron and Hermione at the Ministry, in which they kept on shouting “Stupefy’ at her, which she blocked. She was finally stopped when in her black form she attempted to shot herself at Harry Potter, but Ginny formed a spell, which sent her flying, making the walls crash down.

Azkaban

In January of 1996, Lysandra was one of the many Death Eaters who was sent to Azkaban. Lysandra’s number was: 537, and was in the same cell as Lucius, with the same number. She escaped from Azkaban and rejoined Voldemort when the Dementors defected to the Dark Lord.

As a result, Lysandra now became a 'Wanted Woman' only know by her nickname, “Alecto”, and lived in danger of the Ministry re-instating her imprisonment if she was ever captured.

1996

Lysandra was among the group of Death Eaters, under her nickname “Aleto”, who led an assault at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in 1996, which ended with the death of Albus Dumbledore.

1997

Appointment at Hogwarts

In 1997, after control of the Ministry of Magic fell to the Death Eaters, Yaxley was made the new Muggle Studies Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry after the murder of Charity Burbage. Muggle Studies became a compulsory course for all students, and Lysandra changed the curriculum so instead of teaching equality and how Muggle technology worked, it became a brainwashing lesson of how Muggles are worthless and disgusting and should be treated like animals. When Neville Longbottom challenged her on this, Lysandra slashed him across the face. She was also the one that handed out punishment to all students during their reign at Hogwarts, and beat and tortured students who defied them.

Battle of Hogwarts

In 1998, on Lord Voldemort's orders, Lysandra guarded the Ravenclaw common room, where Harry Potter might show up on his search for the Horcruxes. She caught Harry and called the Dark Lord using her Dark Mark, but was stunned by Luna Lovegood, and later was tied up by Minerva McGonagall. She apparently got lose and also fought in the battle of Hogwarts, and fought, and killed, five teachers with her killing curse. Lysandra was taken back by the death of her sister, Bellatrix, and along with the Dark Lord, tried to kill Molly Weasley, but was stunned and taken to Azkaban.

2000

Legacy

Lysandra broke out of Azkaban, and nearly destroyed Hogwarts. Harry Potter and his wife, Ginny, heard about it and killed her together. Later, the Daily Prophet saw her Sprit on May 3.

Powers and abilities

Lysandra was an extremely powerful witch, second only to Lord Voldemort among the Death Eaters. She was an expert in the Dark Arts, an extremely skilled duelist. Her prodigious skill was proven by her many victories over other talented wizards and witches.

  • Dark Arts mastery: Lysandra claimed to have been trained in the Dark Arts by Voldemort himself, and displayed a particular proficiency with, and affinity for, the Cruciatus Curse. She is so powerful that she embraces Death itself. She boasted to have knowledge of Dark spells that few could comprehend the power, a claim supported by her status as Voldemort's "best lieutenant". Like her master, Lasiandra was known to cast the Killing Curse with particular skill and with no regard for the life she wished to extinguish.[1][2] As living up to her nickname “Queen of Death”, she is the creator of the Killing curse, and is the only one know to be able to block the unblockable Killing Curse.
  • Expert duellist: Lysandra defeated Aurors Nymphadora Tonks and Kingsley Shacklebolt in duels during the Battle of the Department of Mysteries, as well as her cousin Sirius, and was the only Death Eater to deflect a bolt from Albus Dumbledore himself, allowing her to escape the renowned wizard[3]. In addition, despite her years of captivity within Azkaban, Lysandra displayed incredible reflexes that outmatched the much younger and physically fit Harry Potter; she was able to conjure a Shield Charm and deflect his own spell back at him the moment he cast it.[3] Lysandra was also the last Death Eater standing (next to Voldemort) during the Battle of Hogwarts despite being severely outnumbered by the Order of the Phoenix sympathizers, a testament to her amazing dueling ability.
