The Felifors Spell (Felifors) is a transforming spell that turns cats into cauldrons. It is covered in Hogwarts' Transfiguration classes.

History

During the 1986–1987 school year, the spell was taught to the third year students in Transfiguration.[1]

If performed improperly, the cauldron could still have a tail. Failed cauldron transfigurations were used by second year Transfiguration students to practise the Reparifarge spell on, during the 1985–1986 school year.

Etymology

From Latin "feles", meaning "cat" or "felinus", meaning "pertaning to cats", with the -fors suffix attached.

Behind the scenes

  • Compared to similar Transfiguration spells (-fors suffix), the etymology of the spell doesn't indicate the result: for example, Lapifors turns the target into a rabbit and Avifors the target into a bird, but Felifors on the contrary turns a cat into a cauldron. This might be a mistake from Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery developers, where the spell appears.
