Faris Spavin, sometime between 1865 and 1903, when he served as Minister for Magic of Great Britain and Ireland, survived a kick from a centaur who was offended by a joke told by Minister Spavin.  The physical assault was called an attempted "assassination," but it is unclear if the centaur in question actually was trying to kill Spavin.

The joke concerned a centaur, a ghost, and a dwarf walking into a bar for some reason.
