- "Perhaps I can interest you in a Fanged Frisbee? Aerodynamic scales on the alligator top, and serrated edges perfect for slicing!"
- — Bilton Bilmes[src]
A Fanged Frisbee was similar to a Muggle frisbee, but it had teeth and 'snarls'. They were forbidden at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.[1][2]
History[]
Fanged Frisbees could be purchased at a variety of joke shops in the wizarding world, including Zonko's Joke Shop in Hogsmeade near Hogwarts, and in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, the popular joke shop run by Fred and George Weasley in Diagon Alley, London.
1988–1989 school year[]
During the 1988–1989 school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Jacob's sibling, Nymphadora Tonks and Tulip Karasu visited Zonko's Joke Shop in Hogsmeade in order to speak to owner Bilton Bilmes about Duncan Ashe. During their visit, Bilton opened a new box of Fanged Frisbees in the store, but the Frisbees went out-of-control and started flying all over the shop, resulting in Jacob's sibling having to destroy them with the Bombardment Spell.[3]
1989–1990 school year[]
Again during this school year, Bilton accidentally released several Fanged Frisbees in Zonko's when Jacob's sibling and Nymphadora Tonks entered. Jacob's sibling again destroyed them with the Bombardment Spell.[4]
1994–1995[]
These Frisbees were added to Filch's list of forbidden objects in the 1994–1995 school year.[1]
1996[]
- "Hold it! Fanged Frisbees are banned, hand it over."
- — Hermione Granger confiscating a Fanged Frisbee from a fourth year[src]
A brand of Fanged Frisbees, Fanged Flyers, was sold at Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.[5]
Using her Prefect duties, Hermione Granger took a Fanged Frisbee from a fourth year student in 1996. Ron Weasley quickly took it from her, saying he had always wanted one.[2]
Harry Potter found a Frisbee in the Room of Requirement when hiding his copy of Advanced Potion Making.[6]
Behind the scenes[]
- Fanged Frisbees can be found in the real world at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Zonko's Joke Shop in Universal Orlando. They are green with a reptile-like face and multiple teeth on the outside rim of the disc. The package they are sold in also includes a Handler's Glove, inferring that the toy is sharp.
- In LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, Verity is trapped on the staircase in Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes by three Fanged Frisbees, possibly Fanged Flyers.
- Fanged Frisbee can be used in duelling in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery after achieving a certain amount of wins in a duelling event released in 2020.
