Fake wands were strips of wood with no magical properties.[1][2]

History

The snakewood wand given to the No-Maj Jacob Kowalski in 1932 was regarded as a fake wand, as it contained no core and thus could not perform magic.[3]

Anticipating a riot, the Ministry of Magic confiscated wands of the Holyhead Harpies and Puddlemere United fans at the gates prior to the match. However, most of the fans only turned in fake wands.[1]

Sometime after Lord Voldemort's return to the open, two Death Eaters pleaded guilty to dealing in fake wands.[2]
