Everte Statum[1] is the incantation of a duelling spell. It causes a short burst of intense pain, which can make the victim stumble, but does not cause any lasting damage. Draco Malfoy used this spell against Harry Potter during the Duelling Club in 1992, despite being instructed to only use the Disarming Charm.

Etymology
From Latin everte, meaning "to throw out" and statua, meaning "image".
Behind the scenes
- In the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, this spell has a much more powerful effect, causing Harry to fly back through the air and flip over. Its incantation, not listed in the book, is also given.
